H. glauca is stem forming, growing in clumps, it has glaucous, incurved, grey-green leaves. In natural habitats H. glausais growing very often exposed on sun on the rock slopes or under the weak protection of bushes.
The full distribution is not yet known. H. glauca occurs from Zuurberg in the East to Fullarton and Paardepoort in the West. This species is much variable. The stem stems of the plants are usually well-developed, the leaves may be erect or spreading and tuberculate even if only slightly so.
